Climate change is reshaping Europe’s forests, creating new challenges for forest resilience, sustainable wood supply, and the long-term competitiveness of the forest-based sector. To explore these issues, TU4F convened a Fireside Chat in Warsaw, Poland, bringing together researchers, forest managers, and industry representatives to discuss how climate change is influencing forest ecosystems, forest management practices and the future availability of wood resources in Poland and across Europe.

The resilience of forests and the future availability of wood are closely connected.  Increasing climate-related disturbances, changing growing conditions, and shifting societal expectations are creating new uncertainties for forest management, wood mobilisation, and long-term investment decisions.

The report summarises the key messages from scientific presentations and moderated discussions, highlighting  practical actions to strengthen forest resilience, improve long-term wood supply planning, support climate adaptation, and foster collaboration across the forest-based sector to help ensure resilient forests and resilient wood value chains.
